An Exciting Few Days

The night of the concert, I stayed in Centerville and I planned on going down to the football game the next day with Spencer and his family. As my parents were in Provo for the men's basketball and women's volleyball games, I slept in their bed. Saturday morning I woke up in a lot of pain. There are only a few times in my life that I remember being in that much pain. It felt like kidney stone pain, but I wasn't sure because I had gone to a urologist earlier in the year who said that I didn't have any kidney stones then and it takes at least a year for them to form. I called Shannon and she came upstairs. We called the nurses in our family and my parents and finally decided just to go to the hospital.

Funny, the lady at the front desk remembered me from earlier in the year. Apparently they don't get many 21 year olds coming in complaining of kidney stones. My parents drove home and got to the hospital just as the doctor came back. He said he thought it was a UTI. He gave me some antibiotics to kill the infection, some medicine to kill the pain, and told me if I was still in pain by Monday to go see my urologist. Unfortunately I spent the entirety of Saturday and most of Sunday laying in bed and eating nothing but mini saltine crackers because I was so nauseous from the pain medicine. Needless to say I never plan on touching that stuff again.

I was feeling okay by Sunday night and wanted to go to school the next day, so I went back to Provo. Around 5:45 the next morning I woke up with the same pain. It's probably a good thing Anne was awake doing homework, cause otherwise I probably wouldn't have told anyone. Cause I'm stubborn like that. Spencer ended up driving me to meet Alicia and we went back to her house until my appointment with the urologist. I had a CT and it showed I did have a kidney stone. They gave me the right medication and said it should pass easily within the next few days. Since I was headed to Nashville for the ABCT conference early Thursday morning, my parents wanted me to stay with them another day to make sure I was okay. I stayed another day and went back to Provo Tuesday afternoon.

I went to my one class on Wednesday and worked a couple of hours before heading back up to Centerville so I could catch my 5:45 flight Thursday morning.
