Flirting

A few months back my roommates and I were discussing how we should write a book on flirting because we are such experts at it. A couple of days later, I found this: http://community.sparknotes.com/2013/02/21/100-ways-to-flirt-with-girls.

It's 100 Ways to Flirt with Girls (they 100 Ways to Flirt with Guys, too). I posted it on Haley's wall and one of my good friends from high school, Bryson, saw it. He and his roommate Will decided to make a video of it and they were kind enough to ask me to be in it (although after you watch it you might not think it is so kind. . .). 

I think it's pretty funny, but that could just be because I was in it. 

Funny Story: One of our friends from high school actually thought Kyle and I were dating. We're not. There are only two couples in the video that are actually dating. The rest of us are just flirting masters, obviously!

Thanks Bryson and Will for making this such a fun experience, even if you ended up pulling a few all-nighters to get it finished!

I Love My Family

So I've been dying to write this post. But as it involves events that are not mine to share, I had to wait a while to announce it myself.

Mandi, Amy, and Alicia

A couple of weeks ago we met up for a Girls' Lunch to celebrate our July Birthday Girls: Mandi, Amy, and Alicia. It was so fun to spend some time with some of my favorite people. Near the end we were definitely gettting out of control in our weird mood. I love being the youngest and getting to have so many adult conversations with my family.

If you look closely at the picture below, you'll notice the lunch wasn't entirely just us girls. In fact, there were three little boys there. . .Daxton, Baby Porter, and Baby Jones!

Yes, that's right! We have two new baby boys coming this year! Mandi is due in October with little Porter (middle name yet to be decided).

Mandi Sue

Alicia is due in December (name yet to be decided). It's a little crazy to think that Alicia is old enough to be a mom, but, at the same time, she's been ready for it for a long time. Peter's family had a reunion this past week where they told them all the baby's gender. I have been dying trying to make sure I don't accidentally let it out somehow that one of his family members would find out (I'm not sure how it would happen, but still.).

I'm so excited for them and for us girls to be even more outnumbered by boys! Plus, I'm totally going to be Baby Jones' favorite aunt (I'd say the same thing for Baby Porter, but seeing as I am not even close to Daxton's favorite, I think that would be stretching it)! Although I'm going to have more competition than I originally anticipated because. . .

. . .Shannon's staying in Utah! 

The selfish side of all of us is SO HAPPY! (The not so selfish side is too, because she's excited about it.) She got a job in West Valley. I'm so looking forward to having her home. Especially since Derrick will be gone starting the end of August and I have plans to leave Utah soon after I graduate (to where has yet to be determined).

This summer has been one to be remembered as I've spent an extremely large amount of time with my family. But they're the greatest ever, so it's understandable. I can't believe how big and cute my nieces and nephews are. I just have to brag for a bit, because they are adorable.

Abby is the rockinest 6 year old you'll ever meet. I mean, the girl sang "Soft Kitty" (from The Big Bang Theory) to Derrick as he pretended to be asleep the other day. Seriously, she's awesome. Also, she was so brave when we went tubbing last weekend. She could have stayed out there forever (my arms, on the other hand, were DYING!).

Sassy Lyla

Lyla Bug is just the best. She is sassy and crazy, but also tenderhearted and gives the best dating advice ever. She also is basically a music genius as she knows all the words to every song on the radio. She was so worried about all of us when we were boating. She kept wanting us to get back in the boat because she was scared we were going to be eaten by sharks. She's my sweetheart and always will be.

Daxty

Daxty is the coolest kid ever, as is evident from the picture. He's daring and a total cheeseball! He went on the tube with his dad and was posing for pictures the whole time! He's still obsessed with cars and is getting so much better at sharing them. He's also slowly coming around to the idea of Baby Porter. He's going to be the best big brother cause he loves babies!

Maxy Boy

Max is just handsome. He loves doing anything that involves a ball and basically worships his dad, seeing as he seems to say "My dad said," at the beginning of every sentence. He's the best to watch any sport with, especially soccer because he always thinks his dad is playing, even if his dad is sitting next to him on the couch!

Conman

Connor is just the sweetest kid you'll ever meet. He has gotten so fast at crawling and I can't wait for him to start walking and talking! I can't quite believe he's a year old! Time flies. But I love him at this age, even if he is about to be replaced as the baby (although he'll always be Amy's baby).

Obviously there is some tough competition for the cutest Keddington grandchild. Good luck Mandi and Alicia!

Best Kept Secret of BYU

My co-workers and I have decided our job is the best kept secret on campus (which means I'm totally letting it out...). I work for the Student Athlete Academic Center. While it has its moments of frustration and flat out anger, overall, it's pretty awesome. Basically we are like tutors, except instead of a specific subject, we tutor them in how to go to college. We meet with them and help them plan out their week, work on reading, test taking, and note taking strategies, help with papers, and basically any other school related subject. So, obviously, finals is insane. But otherwise it's not too stressful.

This summer has been especially fun. We are doing what is called Summer Bridge. All of the new football recruits and a few other students from other sports are required to come and take classes. Since they are all in the same classes, they get to spend a lot of time together and with us in study hall. Needless to say, we have some delightfully crazy conversations. 

One of the major perks, other than that we are all good friends with a bunch of awesome people, is the random opportunities to do fun things. Like yesterday when we got to take a tour of LaVell Edwards Stadium. 

The players weren't nearly as excited as us employees. They got to see some of it when they went on their recruiting trips. Still, we got to go some places they hadn't gone to. We started out going to the ESPN Pressbox, then went to the President's Luge (yes, that is how it is spelled). After, we hit up the Blue Zone and Visiting Team Locker Room before walking on the field to get to the Referee Locker Room, Media Room, and Home Team Locker Room.

Family Time

I love going home. Lucky for me I've gotten to spend quite a bit of time with my family the past few weeks. Over the 4th of July I went home and spent a couple of days with my family since our whole building got the day off work on Friday (Thank you Tom Holmoe!). Early Friday morning, I was sleeping on the couch and woke up to Spencer bringing the kids in while he took their car in to the shop. Immediately they all wanted to lay down by me on the couch, so we switched to Grandma and Grandpa's bed.

Of course that didn't actually last very long (for some odd reason they didn't want to go back to sleep. Weird.). Daxton came just a few minutes later, too. So we got up and our day was full of fun times playing with all "the cousins". Since Weeshies and Peeta had the day off too, we decided we should take them all (minus Connor) to the park for a picnic. It was quite the hit. At first we were going to walk, but Alicia was the voice of reason and reminded us that they were not going to be fun to walk home with when they were hot and tired. She's so smart.

After we ate we played on the swings and playground for a while before making our way to the stream for some good old fashion wading in the freezing cold water. (Dax fell of the swings and was inconsolable, so Shannon took him home. So unfortunately he wasn't with us for the stream adventure.)

We dried off a bit by playing follow the leader (Abby and Lyla are quite the creative children) and then made our way home so the little ones could take naps. And so we could give little Connor some undivided attention.

Saturday Derrick, Shannon, and I helped Mom and Dad move furniture, clean, and decorate the house. It was some excellent bonding time for all of us. Especially when Derrick, Shan, and I watched "Mighty Ducks" and teased each other while forming our bet. . .(Unfortunately, I think Shannon is going to win. Bummer.) One thing is certain after Saturday, we think we're pretty funny around these parts.
