I have this really, really bad habit of forgetting to blog for months at a time. As my blog is what I use to justify not keeping a journal, it is bad that I don't remember to do it. So here's a catch up! With lots, and lots of pictures!
The first couple weeks I was home I spent my days sleeping in and then scrapbooking my college experience so far. Took me far longer than I would have liked and I'll have to document this summer again before I leave, but it felt good to get it mostly done.
Since I worked with quite few members of the baseball team, I had promised Max that I would take him to a baseball game and have him meet a couple of them. So one Saturday I did just that. Max was sort of weird at the game. Very quite for him. We went down on the field though and talked to a couple, but he refused to say anything to them. He was pretty shy, but a couple weeks later he asked me if I remembered how cool that was, so he must have liked it.
Afterward we went over to Alicia and Peter's place and Peter took Max out into the field behind their house to fly this big kite they have. Max was in heaven running around the field. And Peter was so cute helping him to fly it. When we were on our way to dinner we stopped and visited some horses, and Alicia said Max loved it (I stayed in the car with a sleeping Will).

Max took his job of making sure Will was happy very seriously. Melts my heart! |
One of the best parts about being home is going to all sorts of performances and games. I got to watch Abby play soccer a few times and was lucky enough to go to Lyla's preschool program. She went to her dad's school this year, and seemed to really do well there. She's such a smart little stinker. They asked what she wants to be when she grows up and she said she is going to be a doctor. I can totally see it.
Mostly the theme of the summer is kids. Being close to my family, I get to see them a lot. Viewmont Boys Soccer was still going on until mid-May, so I helped my parents with Spencer and Amy's kids at least three days a week. Plus, I got to be a babysitter for Dax and Porter quite a few times, as well as my cousin Kari's sweet boy a couple of times. It's going to be hard for me to be in Provo again and so far away from everyone, even if it only is an hour. I guess I'll just have to spend A LOT of time with Will.

Abby got sick on a Friday when her mom had to work, so she and Lyla came and played with me. They built a fort, talked in British accents and watched a couple movies. Those cuties! |

Miss Mary Hiller was married at the end of May. My parents, Alicia, Peter, and I went to her luncheon. It was so nice. They had all of the siblings say something, which was nice. Jake wrote a song instead and it was really cute and clever. And Lizzy wrote a poem that totally had me crying. She mentioned so many memories! So much fun. My mom made her cake, and I helped a little. Someday I'll be as talented as her! Hopefully, anyway. The reception was beautiful, but very hot, so we were worried the cake would melt. It all turned out though!

We had Spencer's kids for Memorial Day because it was the Boys Soccer banquet, and Shan and Jeff had Porter because Nate and Mandi were at a wedding. We had a nice dinner and then headed over to visit our grandparents' graves. The kids were cute and asked lots of questions.

Our family only goes to Lagoon once a year. This year, my parents kept the two babies with them at home until lunch. Alicia, Peter, Derrick, and I were there when it opened and got a lot of rides in at the very beginning. Peter totally turns into a little kid at Lagoon. Seriously, he was even skipping at one point. Jeff and Shannon joined us for a few rides before Alicia, Shannon, and Derrick were feeling too sick and went to switch with Nate, Amy, and Spencer so they could go on big kid rides. Jeff, Peter and I rode a couple rides by ourselves before meeting up with the others. Good thing my sisters married good guys, otherwise that could have been quite awkward. Lunch was chaos, as per usual. Afterward, Abby wanted my mom and me to go on The Bat and a couple other rides with her. She was so cute and grown up!

We met up with the others and watched the kids do the bumper cars before we went on the Terror ride since any age can go on that one. Each kid picked an adult to go with. I went with Lyla. Overall, she was quite unimpressed with the ride. But we both jumped at the end when the siren and light startled us. Dax said it wasn't very scary but it freaked him out! Silly kid!

We were all Lagooned out by about four and went home to eat and watch the Real Salt Lake game.
I had never actually been shooting before, and neither had Shannon, so Jeff took us one night. It was actually really fun, but hard. I definitely won't quit my day job, but I'm glad Jeff got to show us the ropes a little bit. And the weather was beautiful up there!
Jeff tried to get Shannon and I to throw this thing in the air so that he could shoot it. Needless to say, we were not even close to strong enough. Hilarious!
I went to the Saturday's Waffle Truck with Emily Ruth and Karen one weekend. Seriously so good! Mine was S'mores, Karen got a Lemon and Raspberry one and Emily's had eggs and bacon on it. Yum! It was great to sit and chat with my roommates for a while too. I forget how much I miss them when I'm not around them.
This is getting too long, so I'll do the rest in another post.
