Disneyland!

Kyle has been telling me how excited he was to take me to Disneyland pretty much since we started dating. He says it is made for two people. And his family is big into Disney so Disneyland is a big deal to them. Since we live in Southern California, there didn’t seem to be a better time to take the trip.
Leaving out parking lot
We spent the night before at Paul and Tricia Gaye’s to have less of a drive. We woke up early and got to the park before it opened. Kyle had a full day planned for both days. What he didn’t anticipate was that with fastpasses we finished all of the “must dos” for the day by about noon both days. But that just means we got to do a lot more fun things we might not have done otherwise and got to do some of our favorite things twice. I calculated it out and in total we rode rides 23 times, watched 4 shows, and did 2 other attractions in the 30 hours we were in the park.

This is how Kyle's hair STARTED the first day. Bad news.
Can't you tell how much I love Star Wars?

End of Saturday night
We spent the night before at Paul and Tricia Gaye’s to have less of a drive. We woke up early and got to the park before it opened. Kyle had a full day planned for both days. What he didn’t anticipate was that with fastpasses we finished all of the “must dos” for the day by about noon both days. But that just means we got to do a lot more fun things we might not have done otherwise and got to do some of our favorite things twice. I calculated it out and in total we rode rides 23 times, watched 4 shows, and did 2 other attractions in the 30 hours we were in the park.

Some funny things we want to remember:
-The British family in line in front of us for the Cars Racer ride. It was about 8:30 in the morning and they were already mad at each other. The highlight of the fight was the about 14 year old girl telling her sister to “Stop moanin’.”
-There were so many darling kids there. We made a lot of temporary friends with parents because we thought the kids were so cute.
-The Grizzly Peak ride was eventful with a funny family in our group. One of the guys brought a waterproof jacket and stood pretty much the whole time because he was trying so hard to not get wet. We were all (his family included) confused as to why he was on a water ride then.
-The first time we went on Splash Mountain, during the part where you float around looking at the Brer Rabbit story I told Kyle it was creepy. He was very offended because it is one of his favorite rides. He got over it by the time we went again.
-Every ride where they take a picture, my face looked ridiculous. So bad.
-Kyle wore a hat all day both days but would take it off for certain rides. Worst case of hat hair I think I have ever seen. It was pretty much standing straight up.
-We got Ghirardelli’s again because we got it on our honeymoon.
-Riding “Star Tours” three times because it is Kyle’s favorite.
-Kyle falling asleep after dinner while I people watched.
-The darling little boy who was next to me during “Soarin’ over California” who was obsessed with hats.
-Randomly deciding to go see the “Aladdin” show, getting there just in time, and really enjoying it.
-Kyle finally getting his funnel cake.
-The about 3 year old boy wearing a cars hat who was thrilled to get to drive the car at Autopia.
-Kyle literally jumping with joy as we walked to our first ride.
-Watching a 3D “Antman” preview and Kyle freaking out when they made it seem like there were ants running under our seats. I had to convince him it was okay to sit down again. He was totally mesmerized.
-Going upside down on “California Screamin’” and Kyle being worried I lost my purse when he couldn’t see it after.
-Waiting in the longest lines for “Space Mountain.”
-Drawing the Cheshire Cat in the Animation Academy.
-Being super impressed with “Turtle Talk with Crush.” Still trying to figure out exactly how they did that.
-Watching “World of Color” Friday night.
-Watching “Fantasmic” Saturday night.
-Learning how Sourdough bread is made at the Boudin Bakery tour.
-Walking around Downtown Disney and marveling at all of the stuff people buy.
-Me convincing Kyle he didn’t actually need the little lego-type droid he built.
-Me dwelling on how terrifying the spinning ferris wheel would be. It was the only ride I told Kyle I would not go on.

Just for my own record, here are the things we did: Radiator Springs Racers, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Animation Academy, Turtle Talk with Crush, Disney’s Aladdin, “Antman” Preview, Boudin’ Bakery Tour, California Screamin’ (2x), Toy Story Midway Mania, World of Color, Grizzly River Run, Soarin’ Over California, eating at Paradise Garden Grill and Ghirardelli’s, Jungle Cruise, Indiana Jones Adventure, Pirates of the Caribbean, Disneyland Railroad, Splash Mountain (2x), Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Mad Tea Party, “it’s a small world,” Autopia, Space Mountain (2x), Star Tours (3x), Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters (2x), eating at the French Market and Hungry Bear Restaurant

Again, Paul and Tricia Gaye were nice enough to let us spend Saturday night at their house so we had less of a drive back late at night (we spent Friday in a hotel). We went to church with them the next day and had lunch before heading home to unpack and get ready for Monday.

We had a great time and I am pretty sure Kyle is already planning our next trip. . .in about 7 years with a couple of kids.

I love that Kyle loves Star Tours. So does Peter. We only did it twice, though. It was mostly just meh for me, but whatever!
